Starting from 2018, Jianhe government has exerted great efforts to support the development of tourism and have launched new social policies to foster economic growth in the County. The central government has also increased spending to take targeted measures in poverty alleviation. As a result, an improvement in its economic conditions has been seen and demand for subsidisation of school fees has gradually decreased. In previous expedition trips, our association was also aware that the number of impoverished students facing dropout has decreased which tallies with the policies as mentioned above.

After research analysis and communication with local educators, our association has decided to develop our subsidizing programme in Yunnan Province. We could spot out that the economic development in some rural communities in Yunnan is far behind that in the urban areas, and there is little likelihood they would experience a big turn over in the near future. In terms of education development, we find out that even though the high school enrollment rate has improved a lot in recent years, some schools in rural areas still has great demand for software and hardware improvements.

We are now subsidizing 120 students (including the number of school dropouts) in the Jianhe County in Guizhou Province for their school tuition and incidental expenses of education since 2015, thus students are able to further their studies. We will still subsidise students in Jianhe who have been receiving our subsidisation until the completion of their high school education. To collect their updated status and express our care to them, home visits and reunions will proceed as before.
